On this page you will find training links to help you learn how to use your hardware, lesson resources, and links.
Getting Started
First thing to do is sign up for an account at Promethean Planet. Promethean Planet is the online web-resource for everything Promethean.
Click the image to link to the website.
Next download the software you need to create Flipcharts called ActivInspire. Click the image to link to the website
If you are unsure about downloading, call Carolyn and she will walk you through it (summer # 610-256-1979) or bring your laptop to ESC and drop it off with Judy Orner.
NOTE: You will end up downloading the Personal Edition until the district assigns a license to you. You have the option to choose a 60 day trial of the Professional Edition once your install is complete. Go ahead and do that. After the 60 days, if you don't have the license yet, the install reverts to the Personal edition. At a later date you can upgrade back to the Professional edition. I know, this sounds confusing, but it will all work out!
You can now return to Promethean Planet and search for teacher created Flipcharts on the topic of your choice. Download the Flipchart; save it to the folder My Flipcharts. Open ActivInspire and then open the downloaded Flipchart (file/open..). Modify the file as needed and "save as."
OR, start creating your own Flipcharts for your content area: Open ActivInspire and "create new flipchart."
Once ActivInspire is installed, it automatically creates a folder in Desktop/My Documents for saving FlipCharts. Get in the habit of saving Flipcharts in this location on your computer.
Core Resource Pack Download
Please check to see if you have Resources listed in the Resource Browser of ActivInspire: Open ActivInspire Click View/Browsers. The Resource Browser is the second icon from the left (musical notes). Click the image of a group of people (second from left ) to open Shared Resources.
When I downloaded software to your laptop, some teachers have the Resources and some do not.
You can also go to Promethean Planet and click on Professional Development to enroll in online training courses. Click the image to link to the website.
Choose (1) An Introduction to ActivInspire and (2) Learner Response System Course.
You can also download the Training Manual and use it as a guide to teach you the basics of ActivInspire.
